Michalis Prevenios

Michail Prevenios is a Marine Geologist-Oceanographer and he holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Oceanography. Right now, he is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geology, University of Patras. One of his papers won in 2018 the Award: Highly Cited Paper from Web of Sciences, because it  received enough citations to place it in the top 1 % of the academic field of Environment/Ecology based on a highly cited threshold for the field and publication year.

He is also Business Developer in Blue Innovation Hub at Patras Science Park from 2019 that aims to exploit research results and promote innovation, new product development and business partnerships in the field of blue growth (https://www.psp.org.gr/main-activities/innovation-hubs/blue-innovation-hub/). He has organized seminars, workshops and Hackathons on the subject of Blue Growth and Economy. Specifically, he organized the first Blue Hackathon 2019 in Western Greece Region and the European Ocean Hackathon 2020.

He has gained experience in “blue growth” and “blue economy” sectors by working in several national, international projects. He has also participated in many marine geophysical and geotechnical surveys carried out by Oceanus-Lab and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research.

His research interests are topics such as marine pollution, underwater exploration, marine geology, marine geoarchaeology and aquaculture. Finally, he has a pilot license for high speed Boat, an advanced open water diving diploma and he is member of Hellenic Oceanographers’ Association (HOA) in Greece.
