Dr. Xenophon Dimas

Dr. Xenophon Dimas is a geologist holding both a MSc degree and a Ph.D. in the field of environmental oceanography at the Department of Geology, University of Patras, Greece. His Ph.D. thesis is entitled “Mapping of high priority marine habitats at Greece, the case of coralligene formationsʼʼ. As of 2015 he has provided ancillary teaching services for the Department of Geology of the University of Patras, assisting the teaching of Oceanography courses of the first and fifth semester as a Ph.D. student.

His research interests include marine remote sensing techniques for mapping marine high-priority habitats, marine geology, and marine geoarchaeology.

He is a member of Oceanus-Lab since 2014 and has participated in over 44 missions of the laboratory both in Greece and abroad, which correspond to over 440 days of field work. Through these missions he has acquired significant experience in acquisition and processing both marine geophysical data and the collection and curating water and sea bottom sediment samples.

He is the co-author of a plethora of scientific papers published in international scientific journals and in the proceedings of international scientific conferences (145 citations and h-index: 5).
