Vasileios Giannakopoulos
Vasileios Giannakopoulos holds a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Oceanography, earned through the interdepartmental program “Oceanography – Exploration, Assessment, and Management of the Marine Environment.”
At Oceanus-Lab, he conducted pivotal analysis of marine geophysical data, resulting in three publications in esteemed journals. Actively engaged in academia, he has presented insights at two international conferences.
His hands-on experience includes surveys, data acquisition, and fieldwork in Thessaloniki, Piraeus, and the Gulf of Patras, using advanced technologies and equipment, such as Multibeam Echosounders and Side-Scan Sonars. He is overall committed to research, fieldwork, publications, conferences, and advocating for sustainable ocean practices.
He also completed an Erasmus+ Research Traineeship at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research in Warnemünde, Germany, where he conducted research during a four-month on-site internship from September to December 2024.
