Low temperature methanation in geologic environments

Funded by PETROBRAS

The Petrobras-INGV project “Low temperature methanation in geologic environments” dealt with abiotic hydrocarbon production by catalysed Fischer-Tropsch Type reactions at low temperature.

Oceanus-Lab participated in studies that were carried out at Othrys and Vourinos in Greece and the phenomenal abiotic methane seepage area of Chimaera in Cirali, Turkey.

The Principal Investigator of this project was Dr. Giuseppe Etiope, INGV.
